Posted on Aug 19, 2018

Fort Valley State University has been named #8 on College Raptor's national rankings of the "Top 10 Colleges with Tuition Under $20,000." FVSU is the only historically black university on the list and the second highest-ranked Georgia school.

According to College Raptor, the rankings are "an overall assessment of the health and quality of a college." Factors included in ranking evaluation are first year retention rate, median SAT/ACT scores for incoming freshmen, average faculty salary, student/faculty ratio, selectivity, endowment per student, four-year graduation rate, and six-year graduation rate. The factors are weighted, with retention and graduation rates for 55% of the total weight.

The College Raptor rankings follow other rankings which have noted FVSU's low costs and educational value. SR Education Group named FVSU 2017's "Most Affordable Online School for Student Economic Mobility," and is ranked #8 nationally on the list of "Best Value Historically Black Graduate Schools" by bestvalueschools.com.
