Fort Valley State University Paul Jones was recently named a Utah State University College of Humanities and Social Science (CHaSS ) Distinguished Alumni Awards recipient for 2021.

Every year, USU honors students, faculty, staff, and alumni from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

"This year, we have seen exceptionally talented individuals of the CHaSS community have risen above and beyond the challenge of a global pandemic," USU noted on its website.

Dr. Jones called the USU Alumni award meaningful, adding, "This honor has allowed me to reflect on how impactful my USU college career has been in my life. I am grateful for being included in this year's recognition."

Dr. Jones and the other honorees received recognition as CHaSS Award recipients during a virtual event on March 24th. Jones earned both his bachelor's degree in speech and a master's degree in interdisciplinary program from USU. The ceremony also recognized dozens of scholarship winners in history, English, journalism, sociology, social work, languages and more.

This year's honor from USU was not a first for Dr. Jones. In 2012, he and his wife Sylvia, who has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University, were named USU Alumni of the Year.
