Charlie Weaver is Fort Valley State University’s chief information officer, responsible for information technology services for students, faculty and staff. This includes systems development and implementation, connectivity, data delivery, Help Desk functions, and infrastructure strategy. He has overseen the migration of users to Office 365, reduced projected costs associated with the new library computer lab, and developed a plan for multi-factor authentication.
Mr. Weaver came to Fort Valley State University from Georgia College and State University, where he was director of network services and telecommunications. He managed the operations of the Network Services Group in addition to leading long-term strategic planning and budgeting related to campus networking and capacity development. Prior to his work at Georgia College and State University, he was the director of help desk and network services at Florida Gulf Coast University. There, he led initiatives related to network design and server planning. In addition, he managed projects related to security, audit, cloud-based solutions, and virtualization.
Mr. Weaver is a Ed.D. candidate at Georgia Southern University, where he is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership. He earned an MBA and a Master of Science degree in computer information systems, both from Florida Gulf Coast University. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Old Dominion University. He served as an adjunct instructor at both Georgia College and State University and Florida Gulf Coast University.
