Jacqueline L. Caskey-James, LPC, NCC is director of Student Health and Counseling Services at Fort Valley State University. She is responsible for all aspects of the Counseling Center: budget management; policy development and implementation; public relations; and personnel. In addition, she provides counseling to students, supervises undergraduate and graduate level interns, provides clinical supervision/professional staff development to individuals fulfilling requirements for professional licensure, she conducts outreach programs and engages in consultations with the campus community.

Caskey-James earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and also earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling , from Fort Valley State University. Mrs. Caskey-James is a registered Licensed Professional Counselor as well as active member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. Her theoretical orientation is a blend of interpersonal systems and cognitive behavioral therapy. Her clinical orientation is influenced by systems and cognitive-behavioral theories including clinical supervision, diagnostic assessments, stress management, conflict resolution, depression, life transition, adjustment difficulties, trauma and recovery, anger management, substance abuse education and disaster mental health. Jacqueline is a certified QPR suicide prevention trainer. She is also a certified mental health first aid provider and a certified bystander intervention trainer.

Caskey-James is a member of Georgia Licensed Professional Counselors Association, American Counseling Association, University Systems of Georgia Counseling Directors Association, American Psychological Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. She is also a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Valley, Georgia where she serves within the Gospel Choir ministry.
