“The main idea is to motivate children to save at an early age,” said Dr. Vivian Fluellen, interim head of the FVSU Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. “A good way to do this is to make saving fun by having children make their very own piggy bank.”Fluellen also said the activity is designed to encourage a positive attitude towards saving by motivating the children, and their parents, to save loose change every day. Funding to support this activity was received by the Consumer Federation of America in celebration of America Saves Week.
