Fort Valley State University 2023 Homecoming Parade Entry Guidelines

Parade Entry Deadline : 5 PM, Tuesday, October 10

All parade entrants are asked to observe the following guidelines, and supply information where requested to assist the Homecoming Parade Committee in proper planning of the event.  Incomplete applications will not be registered.

Participation Category
Each entry will be announced during the parade route according to the announcer’s script. Please provide the statement you wish to be read by our announcer during the parade. Also, please include the phonetic spelling for any unusual names (The Parade Committee has the right to edit this information to fit in the script).
Will your organization have music played?
No inappropriate music or vulgar language will be allowed and will result in banning from future FVSU parades.

Category Price Details

Horse Category
No entry fee will be accepted after the deadline of Sept. 30, 2021 (must submit negative Coggins Test with application). Note: A horse expert will examine and screen all horse entries two weeks prior to the parade. (We have the right to deny unsuitable horses).
Walking/Dancing Category (Please Select Entry)
Float Category (Please Select Entry)
To qualify as a float, an entry must be skirted, and all objects on it must be completely decorated in sheeting or its equivalent. All floats will be inspected for safety by the FVSU Risk Management, Safety and Transportation Officer prior to the start of the parade—unsafe floats will be denied entry into the parade so please ensure the structure of your float is secure and sturdy. (All standing personnel must have something to hold onto.)
Vehicle Category (Please Select Entry)
All vehicles must have professional identifiable magnetic signs on both sides of their vehicle. No poster board signs! You have the option to purchase magnetic signs upon registering for the parade.

Price: $50 each (set of two). The deadline for ordering signs is Thursday, October 14, 2021. The cost is $50 for two 18x24 signs – marching groups with vehicles may use a banner in lieu of signs.

Registration Payment Information

Online payments accepted at http://www.fvsu.edu/donatetofvsu (Type in "Homecoming Parade" in the Designation Category) or Deliver checks, made payable to “ROTC Cadet Fund” to the FVSU Department of Military Science, Hubbard Education Building, 3rd Floor, 1005 State University Drive, Fort Valley, GA 31030. There will be a $30 charge for any returned checks.
By checking the “I Agree” button, I certify I have read, fully understand and agree to abide by the 2021 FVSU Homecoming Parade Application rules and regulations and the terms of the Waiver and Release of Liability Statement. I also acknowledge that I am 18 years old or older.
