We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Fort Valley State University student MiAysha Brannon. Our campus community mourns her tragic loss. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, classmates, professors and all those who knew and loved her.

MiAysha was a junior Veterinary Technician student from Boiling Springs, South Carolina and had a bright future ahead of her.

"The death of MiAysha Brannon is devastating news," said FVSU President Paul Jones. "She was a cherished member of our Wildcat family. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this very sad time."

We know this news is extremely difficult to process -- particularly during what should be a joyous time of year. We also recognize this loss affects many members of our campus community. Students in need of support or counseling are encouraged to contact Outreach Services by calling our 24/7 support line at 833-855-0085. Faculty and staff may seek support through the KEPRO Employee Assistance Program at 844-243-4440.

By order of President Jones, the University flags will be flown at half-staff in memory of MiAysha and will remain at half-staff until sunset following her being laid to rest.
