Fort Valley State University Opens Lyons Center to Transform Student Experience

Fort Valley State University has officially opened the Lyons Center, home of the Wildcat Success Center, a centralized student services hub designed to simplify the student experience by bringing many of the university's most frequently used support offices together under one roof.

The new center represents a significant investment in student success and reflects the university's continued commitment to providing accessible, student-centered services from enrollment through graduation. Through the Wildcat Success Center, students can access academic, financial and enrollment services in one convenient location, reducing the need to travel across campus and making it easier to get the support they need.

"Every decision behind the Lyons Center was made with our students in mind," said Timothy Hatchett, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. "The Wildcat Success Center creates a welcoming space where students can receive personalized support, solve problems more efficiently and connect with the resources that will help them persist through graduation."

The Lyons Center is the renovated home of the original Lottie M. Lyons Student Center, which opened in 1966 and served generations of Wildcats as the heart of student life. Although the building remained a recognizable campus landmark, it had not functioned in its original role as a student center for more than a decade. Its transformation into the home of the Wildcat Success Center marks a new chapter in its history and in the university's commitment to student success.

"As we continue to advance Fort Valley State University's mission of access, opportunity and excellence, the Wildcat Success Center ensures that every student has the support they need to reach graduation and beyond,” said President Paul A. Jones, Ph.D.

Under the leadership of President Jones, the university completed renovations to create a modern, centralized location that houses Academic Advising and Coaching, Testing and Tutoring, Access and Accommodations, Career Services and iHELP, the Office of Financial Aid, First and Second Year Experience, the Registrar's Office, Student ID Office, the Bursar and Cashier's Office, the Mailroom and other essential student support services. Together, these offices make up the Wildcat Success Center, allowing students to address many of their academic and administrative needs in one visit.

The opening of the Lyons Center and the Wildcat Success Center reflects Fort Valley State University's ongoing commitment to removing barriers to student success by making

campus services more accessible, efficient and student-centered. The new space creates a welcoming environment where students can connect with the people, programs and resources they need to thrive from their first day on campus through graduation.
