Information Regarding Campus Shooting Incident on Wednesday, October 7, 2026

Fort Valley State University is aware of a shooting that occurred Wednesday, October 7 at approximately 11:30 pm near Wildcat Commons Clubhouse. We are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.
The victim has been identified as a non-FVSU student. The suspect has not been identified at this time. Based on the information currently available, there is no indication that the suspect is on the FVSU campus. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident, and the University is cooperating fully with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, as they are assisting with the investigation.

As an immediate response, the University will implement updated safety measures that will be released later today.
