Additionally, FVSU has achieved the highest ranking in the state for social mobility among public regional universities.

U.S. News & World Report’s rankings have placed FVSU at the forefront of higher education institutions in the southern United States. The University has moved up significantly, climbing from #39 to #32 for top public universities in the South. FVSU’s dedication to academic excellence, innovation, and commitment to student success is clearly reflected in this remarkable achievement.

“Fort Valley State University’s consistent recognition as the number one public HBCU in Georgia is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing quality education and opportunities for our students,” said President Paul Jones, Ph.D. “This accomplishment is a reflection of our dedicated faculty, staff, and students who continually strive for excellence in education and beyond. We are also thrilled to be ranked as the top public institution for social mobility in the state, emphasizing our commitment to providing access to education and empowering our students to achieve their dreams.”

FVSU has made significant progress in the U.S. News & World Report rankings in various categories. The University has moved from #83 last year to an impressive #69 this year for regional universities, demonstrating its growing influence and impact on the higher education landscape.

Furthermore, FVSU has climbed from #36 to #32 in the HBCU category, reaffirming its status as one of the leading HBCUs in the nation. Social mobility, a key metric in the rankings, measures an institution’s ability to enroll and graduate students who are awarded Pell Grants. FVSU’s commitment to fostering upward mobility for its diverse student body has been instrumental in achieving this recognition.

FVSU continues to excel in its mission to provide a transformative educational experience that empowers students to reach their full potential and positively impact their communities. These rankings reflect the University’s dedication to academic excellence, social mobility, and the advancement of historically underrepresented groups in higher education.

U.S. News & World Report is the global authority in education rankings. The annual rankings serve as a resource tool for prospective college students and their families when seeking an institution of higher learning. The rankings evaluate 1,500 colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality.
