FVSU’s “All That” Homecoming Highlights Generosity and Significant Growth
Posted on Oct 30, 2026
Fort Valley State University’s (FVSU) 2026 Homecoming, themed “FVSU’s All That,” was marked by an extraordinary show of generosity and support for the university. Checks totaling $7,550,308.13 were presented before the football game and during halftime, including the recently announced $5.8 million gift from the Eddie and Martha Smith estate. These contributions represent a significant investment in FVSU and reflect the commitment of alumni, supporters and friends who believe in the university’s mission and its ability to create opportunities for future generations of Wildcats.
In addition to the substantial philanthropic support, Homecoming 2026 demonstrated remarkable financial growth over a five-year period. Compared with 2021, revenue from football, parking, tailgating and vending increased by approximately 158.7%, reflecting the continued appeal of one of FVSU’s most anticipated annual traditions and the enthusiasm of the university’s extended community.
Tailgating, a longstanding Homecoming tradition, continued to bring together current students, alumni, families and friends for fellowship, food and Wildcat pride. Over the five-year period, tailgating revenue increased by 93.3%, parking revenue grew by 315.4%, and vending revenue increased by 66.9%.
The Homecoming committee, university departments, volunteers and Student Government Association worked together to coordinate a week of activities and experiences for the entire Wildcat community. From student-centered events and alumni gatherings to opportunities for fellowship and celebration, the week offered something for Wildcats of all generations.
Homecoming 2026 was a testament to the impact that can be made when Wildcats come together in support of their university. As FVSU looks ahead to another year, the accomplishments of this year's celebration reinforce the importance of preserving its traditions, strengthening its relationships and investing in its future. Indeed, FVSU is All That.
