Fort Valley State University alumna and graduate student Nya Floyd has been crowned Miss Central Georgia, adding another distinction to a journey marked by scholarship, service and mentorship.

Floyd is no stranger to representing FVSU and her community. She previously served as the 87th Miss Fort Valley State University and the 39th Miss National Black College Alumni (NBCA), using both platforms to engage with students and communities while representing the university.

A native of Stonecrest, Georgia, Nya earned her bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a concentration in animal science from FVSU and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in animal science. Her graduate research focuses on ovaries and embryos, continuing her academic interests in agriculture and animal science.

The 2026 competition marked her first year participating in the Miss Central Georgia organization. After approximately a month of preparation, she approached the experience with a personal motto that has guided her journey: “Wherever God plants you, bloom with grace.”

As Miss Central Georgia, Nya plans to expand her work with young people throughout the region. Her outreach includes plans to work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and make school appearances focused on mentorship, financial literacy and confidence.
She hopes to use her newest title to continue giving back to the communities that have supported her, including Central Georgia, her hometown of Stonecrest and FVSU. Her progression from the 87th Miss FVSU and 39th Miss NBCA to Miss Central Georgia reflects a continued commitment to using each platform to serve and mentor others while pursuing her academic and professional goals.
