William "Alex" Thomas

Alex Thomas is the Executive Director of Recruitment and Admissions for Fort Valley State University. He joined the university in September 2021. A native of Moultrie, Georgia, he has spent several years working in different roles within college admissions throughout the state. His professional career began at Fort Valley State University as an admissions counselor and then transitioned to Mercer University, where he served as Assistant Director of Admissions and Athletic Recruitment. He also served as Assistant Director of Freshman Recruitment at Georgia State University, where he led a recruitment team responsible for increasing first-time freshmen enrollment by 13% from Fall 2020 to Fall 2021.

Throughout his career, Alex has been actively involved in the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC) and was a 2019 graduate of the Admission Middle Management Institute, which specializes in developing strategic thinking among emerging college admissions professionals.

He is a graduate of Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in public administration.
