FVSU Campus Access and Visitor Protocols

Posted on Oct 08, 2026

Fort Valley State University (FVSU) is implementing updated campus access and visitor protocols effective October 8, 2026. These measures are intended to strengthen campus safety, establish clear expectations, and support a welcoming environment focused on learning, work, and student success.

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are asked to review the following requirements and plan accordingly.

Screening and Identification

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors must enter through designated access points and comply with applicable check-in and security procedures. Students, faculty, and staff will be required to present FVSU-issued identification or valid government-issued photo identification before being granted access to campus. Visitors will be required to present valid government-issued photo identification and identify the purpose of their visit and the person, office, or event they are visiting.

Security screening may include checks of individuals, vehicles, and belongings, as authorized by applicable law and University policy. Identification checks will be conducted for all individuals in a specific vehicle.

Student Visitor Hours

Standard visitation hours for students’ personal guests are every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests must depart campus by 9 p.m. unless an exception has been authorized.

The hours from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. are designated to support students’ study and rest. These visitation hours do not govern employees performing authorized duties, individuals conducting approved University business, or attendees at University-sponsored events operating under separate access arrangements.

Student Hosts and Guest Responsibilities

Students hosting personal guests must meet their guests at the designated visitor gate, escort them onto campus, and remain with them throughout the visit. If visitors are also visiting the residence hall, visitors will be required to surrender their IDs to a resident assistant or resident director upon entry. IDs will be returned upon exiting the residence hall.

Student hosts must inform their guests of applicable University rules and help ensure that guests comply with visitation hours, parking requirements, and restrictions on access to buildings and other facilities.

Guests are expected to follow University policies and lawful instructions from University personnel. Guest violations may result in the guest being required to leave campus or losing visitation privileges. Any disciplinary action involving a student host will be determined under applicable University policies and procedures.

Visitor Parking

Students’ personal guests must park in the designated visitor parking area. Parking in other campus locations is prohibited unless specifically authorized.

Visitors attending appointments, conducting University business, or participating in scheduled events must follow the parking instructions provided by the host office or event organizer.

University Business and Official Visitors

Prospective students and their families, vendors, contractors, invited speakers, and other individuals conducting University business must follow the check-in and access arrangements established by their host department.

University employees hosting visitors should communicate the applicable entry, identification, and parking requirements before the visit.

University-sponsored events

Separate access arrangements may apply to athletic competitions, Homecoming, performances, and other University-sponsored events.

Event attendees should review published event instructions. Additional measures may include designated entrances, ticket or credential verification, security screening, traffic controls, and restrictions on access to areas unrelated to the event.
