Admissions Requirements
If you have never been enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university, or if you attended a college or university only as a dual enrollment student while in high school, you are considered a freshman.
Fort Valley State University requires completion of the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) course units. More information on courses used for the GPA calculation can be found on the USG’s Staying on Course document.

FVSU is test-optional for freshman applicants with a minimum 3.0 GPA based on RHSC units. Applicants with at least a 2.25 GPA can be admitted if SAT or ACT minimum requirements are met.

If you graduated high school at least five years ago or earned a General Education Diploma (GED) and have not attended college, you are considered a non-traditional freshman. Non-traditional freshmen applicants must submit an official high school or GED transcript and meet SAT, ACT, or ACCUPLACER minimum score requirements. ACCUPLACER exams can be scheduled through FVSU’s Testing Services Center.

Border Waivers
Automatic in-state tuition for students from Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Opportunities are way too big at FVSU for borders to keep talented students away. If you are from the neighboring states of Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee, you can qualify for in-state tuition at FVSU. Complete the admission application for admission and then provide the required information to receive your border waiver.
