About 650 middle and high school students attended 4-H/FFA Ag Field Day. The event is designed to expose them to the university's agriculture programs. In addition to games, participants enjoyed a lunch and attended the FVSU-Benedict College football game.

"The main purpose of the activity is to get kids on campus at an early age," said Phillip Petway, FVSU's 4-H County Agent. He said the event introduced the students to some of the majors available in the university's College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology. The more a child feels connected to a school, the more it can pay off when it comes to recruiting them to a college, such as FVSU, Petway said.
