Freshman pitcher Courtney Walker is SIAC Softball Player of the Week

P "¢ Fr. "¢ Warner Robbins, Ga. In addition to leading Fort Valley State's battery, Walker posted a .600 batting average (6-of-10) and six RBI to power FVSU's four-game win streak. She also tallied two runs and a double to lead the Wildcats at-bat.

Walker (4-2) fueled Fort Valley State to a 4-0 record for the week with victories over Concordia (Selma) and Wesleyan in back-to-back doubleheaders. FVSU defeated Concordia, 12-0 and 11-3, before capturing wins of 4-1 and 8-5 over Wesleyan.

Last week, she recorded a 0.61 ERA throwing three complete games including one shutout during the Wildcats' onslaught. Walker gave up 12 hits in 23 innings pitched while giving up seven runs (two earned). She manifested her durability starting all four games, earning four wins, while throwing 27 strikeouts.

She tied a season high throwing nine strikeouts in two contests including the 12-0 win over Concordia-Selma and the 4-1 victory against Wesleyan.
