About OIRPE

OBJECTIVES:

It is our expectation to offer high quality and timely services in carrying out objectives to:

  1. Develop and implement institutional effectiveness plans, including support for the assessment of learning outcomes
  2. Assist academic, administrative and support units with the assessment of core services consistent with institutional effectiveness and accreditation requirements
  3. Facilitate the strategic planning process
  4. Provide standard institutional data and respond to all institutional data requests from internal and external customers

LEADERSHIP

Mr. Don McCarthy is the Associate Director and Senior Research Associate for the office of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness. Mr. McCarthy lives in Columbus, Georgia and attended Morehouse College, Georgia Institute of Technology, Troy State University, Troy University and Nova Southeastern University. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, ADDGM for Prince Hall Masonary in the Jurisdiction of Georgia and several other civic and social groups. His scholarly interests include Grant writing, Website Design, Project and Logistics Management, Research, Data Mining and Assessment Practices.

Ms. Sylvia Bezawada, Data Management Specialist, joined Fort Valley State University in 2017. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Vignan’s Nirula, India, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of New Haven. Prior to FVSU; she worked as a Program Analyst at a small company in the private sector and has experience with Java Programming, Web Designing, Oracle Database, Big Data, and Business Intelligence and Reporting.
