Lieutenant Tatotshia K. Grier is an investigator at Fort Valley State University. She devotes most of her time to ensuring the security and safety of students, faculty, and staff. She also serves as a clery & compliance officer.

Before coming to FVSU, Grier served as an investigator for the criminal investigation division for Americus, GA Police Department (APD). Grier’s tenure at APD included roles as a patrol officer and a drug unit investigator. She assisted in executing search warrants, the G.R.E.A.T program, conducted criminal and drug investigations involving persons and property, and managed caseloads involving drugs, murder, rape, sexual assault, robbery, unattended death, abduction, child sexual abuse, elder abuse and computer crimes involving persons.

Prior to her work with the Americus Police Department, Grier served as a dispatcher, jailer, on the Correctional Emergency Response Team  (CERT) team at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department, and as a juvenile correctional officer for Sumter YDC. Grier earned her associate’s degree in criminal justice from Central Georgia Technical College and she is currently enrolled at Fort Valley State University where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
