H. Allen Salter, CPA is the assistant vice president and controller at Fort Valley State University.  He is responsible for the following areas: Bursar, Procurement, Payroll and Accounting Services. Additionally, Mr. Salter’s responsibilities will include the successful and timely completion of the Annual Financial Report and other financial reporting requirements and act as liaison with external auditors and the Board of Regents during annual audits.

In total, Mr. Salter has over 30 years of professional experience, including 12 years with the United States Air Force. His finance and accounting experience comes from working in both public accounting and in industry and government. Mr. Salter’s public accounting experience includes Big 4 accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, top 10 national firm Crowe, and top 100 firm Frazier & Deeter. His private sector experience includes the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Oconee Federal Financial Corp., and Best Hometown Bancorp. His governmental experience comes from serving as the assistant finance officer for Upson County Georgia.

Mr. Salter earned his associate’s degree in business administration from Georgia Military College in 1988 while serving in the Air Force. After separation from the Air Force, Mr. Salter earned his bachelor and master of accountancy degrees from the University of Mississippi in 1997 and 1998, respectively. He has been a licensed CPA since 2001.
