Strategic Academic Partnerships & Student Engagement

The role of Strategic Educational Partnerships and Student Engagement at Fort Valley State University is to broaden, deepen, and strengthen existing programs with K-12, public, charter, and private schools, ISDs, and other community organizations oriented toward advancing access to higher education and increasing college-going for students in and around Fort Valley, Georgia; to facilitate community college transfers through seamless articulation; and to develop new innovative programs, relationships, and agreements.  In doing so, the following University priorities are realized:

The continuous goals for the Office of Strategic Academic Partnerships and Student Engagement are to

  • See corporate partnerships to solicit financial support for academic programs, faculty, students, and initiatives
  • Develop partnerships to enhance degree programs, providing increased training in focus areas relevant to partnerships and facilitating recruitment upon graduation
  • Facilitate access to community leaders for continuous exchange of ideas to promote community engagement and economic development
  • Increase University discovery and recognition within the State of Georgia and influence the development of strategic academic partnerships

FVSU Partnerships

 

FVSU Articulation Signing with Arkansas College of Health Education

Purpose:  Build mutually beneficial, diverse partnerships with community groups, K-12 schools, technical colleges, universities, veterans’ organizations, government agencies, NGOs, and industry by effectively leveraging FVSU’s strengths with an objective of providing better service to our stakeholders.

Method: Seek corporate partnerships to develop and solicit financial support for respective academic programs, faculty, and initiatives
Seek academic partnerships that will develop and/or enhance degree programs to provide increased training in a focus area relevant to the partnership which will facilitate recruitment of student participants upon graduation
Facilitate access to community leaders for continuous exchange of ideas to promote community engagement and economic development
Build upon FVSUs established reputation to increase University discovery and recognition within the State of Georgia and influence the development of strategic academic partnerships

FVSU MOU Signing with US Environmental Protection Agency

 

Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Fort Valley State University formalized a transfer articulation agreement recognizing that Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) and Fort Valley State University (FVSU) are active educational partners in providing educational opportunities for currently enrolled and future students of both institutions.  GNTC and FVSU agree to cooperate in communicating with each other and with the public release of information regarding the articulation relationship between the two institutions.  The institutions will encourage the dissemination of information about programs in this agreement with interested and qualified students, with both institutions providing advising and counseling to prospective students.  Any GNTC student who completes any associate of applied science degree, is in good standing at GNTC, and meets the appropriate admissions requirements to attend FVSU will be ensured that the courses earned at GNTC and listed in the agreement will transfer to FVSU.

Fort Valley State University signed articulation agreements with Georgia Military College. These agreements provide GMC students pathways to continue their education with FVSU in programs within the College of Education, Pre-Nursing, as well as a graduate program in Environmental Health.  Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Olufunke Fontenot, commented on these agreements providing opportunities for students to expand their education and go from a Bulldog to a Wildcat. The academic partnership between Georgia Military College and Fort Valley State University represents a milestone in efforts to bring two great institutions together.  Fort Valley State University is committed to providing a smooth transition to Georgia Military College students who want to take their studies to the next level by enrolling in the number one ranked public HBCU in the State of Georgia.
