FVSU Welcomes 3,310 Students, Marking 27 Percent Enrollment Growth

Fort Valley State University (FVSU) continues its strong enrollment momentum, welcoming 3,310 students for Fall 2026, representing a 27 percent increase in enrollment. The university also recorded a 14.6 percent increase in Summer 2026 enrollment compared with Summer 2025, according to the latest University System of Georgia (USG) Semester Enrollment Report.

FVSU enrolled 1,405 students during Summer 2026, an increase of 179 students from the previous summer. The university posted the second-highest percentage enrollment increase among all USG institutions, trailing only Atlanta Metropolitan State College, and achieved the highest percentage increase among institutions in the state university sector.

“FVSU’s enrollment growth is a testament to the strength of our institution and the continued demand for the transformational educational experience we provide,” said Timothy Hatchett, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “We are proud of this progress and remain committed to building on this momentum in ways that advance student success.”

The latest enrollment figures also highlight sustained growth over the past five years. Since Summer 2022, summer enrollment has increased by 36.4 percent, rising from 1,030 students to 1,405 students in Summer 2026.

In addition to headcount growth, the university experienced a significant increase in full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment. FTE enrollment rose from 743 in Summer 2025 to 857 in Summer 2026, representing a 15.3 percent increase.

FVSU also welcomed 105 new students during the summer term. This group included 50 beginning freshmen, eight sophomores, six juniors, and 30 graduate students, along with students classified as transfer, transient, and other new enrolling students.

The Summer 2026 enrollment results, combined with the university's strong Fall 2026 enrollment, contribute to a broader pattern of sustained growth at Fort Valley State University. The continued increase reflects the institution's commitment to expanding access to higher education, enhancing student success initiatives, and providing meaningful academic opportunities that support students throughout their educational journeys.
