Dear members of the FVSU Family,
Two of our student leaders recently tested positive for COVID-19. The upper-class students had returned to campus early in support of their leadership duties. As part of our “Return to Campus” safety protocols, FVSU screened the students for COVID-19, along with nearly 100 other student leaders. Some of the other test results are still pending.
Both students are asymptomatic and under the care of medical providers. Per our protocols, they have been restricted to our designated quarantine space on campus for isolation. As a precaution, three other students who shared a residence hall suite with one of the COVID-19 positive students have also been placed in quarantine. All the impacted students will be isolated for a mandatory 14 days on campus if they are unable to return home for the necessary isolation period.
As our nation continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, FVSU will continue to be diligent about following the necessary safety protocols to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and surrounding communities. Along with the mandatory wearing of face coverings by everyone on campus, we observe various social distancing measures and promote good hygiene that includes cleaning and sanitizing work and study spaces and imploring everyone to wash their hands regularly. By working together and following best practices under the guidance of our state and local health experts, I’m confident we will get through this together as we move forward for this academic semester and beyond. We thank you for your ongoing support.
